Dr Emma Carduff is Head of Research and Innovation, for Marie Curie in Scotland. Emma is a nurse and completed a Master’s degree in Public Health research, then a PhD in qualitative research methods in palliative care research from the University of Edinburgh. Emma has 15 years’ experience of palliative care research which predominantly focuses on support for family carers, including bereavement, and people at the end of life in seldom heard groups, including people experiencing financial hardship and prisoners. Emma has collaborations nationally and internationally and has a track record of ensuring evidence informs policy and maximises impact to improve the end-of-life experiences for all. Predominately a qualitative researcher, Emma also brings experience of mixed methods research and of working collaboratively with patient and public involvement groups within organisations and those established for specific projects. Emma is currently Secretary of the Palliative Care Research Society and Executive Committee Member of the International Palliative Care Family Carer Research Collaboration and the European Association of Palliative Care Taskforce on Prisons
